Why it's time to lead a less digital lifestyle

The internet can't save us...and in some cases, it actually made things worse. On the latest Visiting Experts, David Sax explores the myth of a digital utopia, and why it might be time to ditch the smartphone (at least temporarily).

A fully digital world was supposed to bring utopia. Kids could learn anywhere. Business could happen anywhere. New international opportunities could emerge, all without ever leaving your hometown. 

But with smartphones in our pockets, and a pandemic shifting everything we do online, it soon became clear that never disconnecting had more than a few drawbacks. 

Author and journalist David Sax joins the Rotman Visiting Experts podcast to talk about his new book The Future is Analog, about the societal pitfalls of a fully digital world, how we can reclaim parts of our offline lives, and what we lose when our entire existence moves to the cloud.
