The collaborative master's degree program in Asia-Pacific Studies is designed to provide graduates with advanced training in a particular discipline and in the historical and social science studies of modern East and Southeast Asia. The major topics of emphasis in the collaborative master's degree program are political economy, modern and contemporary social history, international relations, gender, political and social change, economic development, and cultural studies. The collaborative master's degree program in Asia-Pacific Studies contributes to the development of an integrated and interdisciplinary research community in Asia-Pacific Studies at the University of Toronto.

Students in the collaborative master's degree program in Asia-Pacific Studies are expected to meet the MBA degree requirements (see Two-Year MBA Class of 2009) and the program in Asia-Pacific Studies. See below for collaborative program requirements. Note that collaborative program requirements can be met concurrently with, or in addition to, the MBA requirements. 

Students who successfully complete the requirements of the collaborative program will receive the notation "Completed Collaborative Program in Asia-Pacific Studies" on their transcript in addition to the MBA.

Program Requirements:

A year-long, interdisciplinary core seminar (ASI1000Y "Issues in Asia-Pacific Studies").

A choice between: Master’s thesis option

A Major Research Paper option, in combination/in addition to a full course equivalent on Asia-Pacific

A Thesis-equivalent research paper in an independent research half-course. This option must be combined with an additional half-course on Asia-Pacific listed on the website.
