PhD Stream in Strategy Introduced at Rotman School

TORONTO — The Rotman School has added a new stream in Strategic Management to the PhD program for the 1999 - 2000 academic year. Three students will begin PhDs in September and four other PhD students will have their dissertations supervised by faculty from the strategic management area.
"In a world characterized by rapidly changing technology, intense competition and globalization, strategic management is becoming vital to organizational success," says Professor Joel Baum, Canadian National Chair in Strategic Management and the Strategic Management PhD co-ordinator. "Research in this area will help us to improve the international competitiveness of Canadian organizations."
The Rotman PhD Program prepares students for research-oriented careers in universities as well as research careers in business or government. In addition to the new stream in Strategic Management, the PhD degree has existing specializations in Finance, Marketing, Operations Management, and Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management.
