TORONTO – Best-selling author Don Tapscott and Alan Webber, the founding editor of one of the world’s top business magazines, are among the leaders who will be speaking at the annual Rotman MBA Business Conference. The conference, called Fast-Forward.ca, examines the impact of new technology and widespread use of the Internet in business. The conference will be held on Friday, January 28, 2000 in the Fleck Atrium at the Rotman School of Management.

Keynote speakers at the conference include:

  • Don Tapscott, a best-selling author, president, New Paradigm Learning Corporation and Chairman of the Alliance for Converging Technologies, a think-tank that is currently conducting a series of multi-million dollar investigations regarding how the Internet and new media are transforming business, government, and society. He is described by Vice President Al Gore "as one of the world’s leading cyber-gurus."
  • Alan Webber, Co-founding Editor, Fast Company magazine, a U.S. based business magazine designed to give people the tools they need to succeed in today's world of work. He is a former managing editor of the Harvard Business Review; and
  • Roger Martin, Dean, Joseph L. Rotman School of Management. Previously, he was a director of Monitor Company, an international strategy consulting firm based in Cambridge, Mass.

Speakers in breakout sessions will include: Colleen Moorehead, president of VERSUS Technlogies Inc.; Rick Segal, president of Chapters Online; Mike Abramsky, president of Rogers New Media; Jason Chapnik, president of HomeStore.com of Canada, a leading real estate Internet site; David Samuel, co-founder of Mosaic Venture Partners; Dave Barnes of Towers Perrin; and Chris Van Buskirk, vice president and managing director (media services) of Modem Media, a leading builder and marketer of customer-focused e-businesses for world-class brands.

The Rotman MBA Business Conference is an annual student-organized event and provides a forum for executives, students and alumni to discuss crucial issues facing today’s business community.
