Rotman MBA Ranks Among the Top Programs in the World:
Wall Street Journal
TORONTO, September 9, 2002 -- The MBA program at the University of Toronto's Joseph L. Rotman School of Management is among the top 50 MBA programs in the world according to a ranking published today in The Wall Street Journal. The Rotman School was one of only two Canadian business schools included in the ranking that was based on a survey of corporate recruiters who hire MBA students. The recruiters also considered the Rotman School to be one of eleven "hidden gems" -- schools that produce excellent graduates but have not received the recognition that they deserve. Overall, the Rotman School placed 46th among the 50 business schools that were ranked. The ranking also mentioned the Rotman School as the 10th favourite school of financial services recruiters and the 7th best school for academic excellence in finance.

"The Rotman School is beginning to build an international reputation of innovation and excellence with our new integrative approach to business education. Today's complex business environment needs managers who can think across narrow functional areas and models," says Dean Roger Martin, and professor of strategic management. "Smart recruiters have always known that they can gain a competitive advantage by hiring Rotman MBA students."
"It is important to note, however, that The Wall Street Journal survey chooses to focus on only one aspect of a business school's contribution and that is its attractiveness to recruiters. While we are pleased that recruiters rank the Rotman School in their top 50, we also pay attention to our contribution to business scholarship and our impact on students, both of which are measured in other surveys," adds Prof. Martin.
The University of Toronto's Joseph L. Rotman School of Management offers leading-edge research and degree programs, including the prestigious Rotman MBA, the Rotman Part-Time MBA, the One-Year MBA for Executives, a first-rate Doctoral program, the distinctive Master of Management & Professional Accounting program, the undergraduate Commerce program in partnership with the Faculty of Arts and Science, combined programs with the University of Toronto faculties of Law, Engineering and Nursing, and an innovative series of Executive Programs tailored to the current needs of businesses and individual managers.
