TORONTO, June 19, 2000 --
Ann Smiley has joined the University of Toronto's Joseph L.
Rotman School of Management as assistant dean, development. Smiley, who
graduated in 1984 from Rotman's MBA program, joins the Rotman School from
Ketchum Canada Inc., where she worked as Campaign Director for the Ontario
College of Art & Design. Previously, she was Director, Advancement and
Secretary to the Board for The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research.
She also spent ten years with Roy-L Capital Corporation and Clairvest Group
as the Assistant to the Chairman and Corporate Secretary respectively.
Prior to joining the merchant bank, Smiley worked in the legal and
government sectors. Smiley also holds an LLB and a BA from Dalhousie
University.
In her new role, Smiley is responsible for overseeing planning for all of
the Rotman School's development activities, including leading the
fund-raising campaign to support the School's strategic plan.

to become one of the top ten business schools in the world," says Dean
Roger Martin. "With her knowledge of both the public and corporate sectors
and the fact that she is herself a Rotman grad, Ann brings a unique blend
of skills and expertise to the School at a pivotal time in our history. We
