TORONTO, June 5, 2000 --
Germany, China, Austria, Canada, Guyana, Brazil and the United States. The students may come from around the world but after Tuesday they will always share a common bond - an MBA degree from the University of Toronto.
During convocation ceremonies on Tuesday, June 6th, 31 international business professionals will graduate from the Rotman School of Management's Global Executive MBA program. The current program is developed in partnership with LIMAK, at Johannes Kepler University in Austria; Universitätsseminar der Wirtschaft (USW) in Germany; and supported by Rotman's associate partner, Business School São Paulo for International Management in Brazil.
Convocation ceremonies will be held at the University of Toronto's Convocation Hall on June 6th at 2:30 p.m. A special reception will be held to honour all MBA graduates following the ceremonies at the Rotman School, 105 St. George Street, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The new Global Executive MBA graduates, as well as the 34 Executive MBA graduates, will be available for media interviews during the reception. To set up interviews, please contact the Rotman staff listed below.
Since 1996, more than 100 international business professionals have graduated from the Global Executive MBA programs delivered by the Rotman School. The Global Executive MBA provides three modules of intensive instruction and classes in Canada, China and Europe. The rest of the academic work is done through independent and team projects while participants are back at work. Students traveled in the past year to Germany, Shanghai and Toronto.
"Thanks to these partnerships, the participants, faculty, curriculum and class locations for our Global Executive MBA create a compelling global experience," says Professor Joe D'Cruz, Director of the Global Executive MBA program at the Rotman School. "We bring together executives and senior managers from four continents - North America, South America, Europe and Asia - to create international study teams."
"These teams are truly global. Participants learn to interact among themselves and the faculty over the Internet," adds Rotman Dean Roger Martin. "By providing a learning experience that mirrors the work environment of global firms, we believe we are making the global economy more understandable, and global business tools more applicable, for business leaders of today and tomorrow."
