Brazilian and Taiwanese Students Study International Business
at U of T's Rotman School

TORONTO, May 29, 2000 -- The first group of international students to study this year at the Rotman School of Management arrived this week in Toronto. The students, from the Executive MBA program at the Business School São Paulo for International Management (BSP), are enrolled in "Managing In the Global Economy", a customized two-week executive education program designed to teach North American perspectives on global management. In June, the Rotman School will welcome for the first time twenty-three Executive MBA students from the National Central University of Taiwan. This contingent is at the Rotman School to study international business strategy for one week. This is the sixth year the Brazilian students have come to Rotman to participate in the special program, which is taught by a combination of Rotman School faculty and outstanding business leaders. Accompanying the students is Professor Wolfgang Schoeps, Dean of the BSP, who is in Toronto until June 2. Prof. Schoeps is available for media interviews and can speak on:

  • Canada-Brazil trade relations;
  • The current state of business education in Brazil and partnerships with Canadian institutions. "As a globally-focused business school, we are delighted that our partnerships with international business schools continue to grow. The students benefit from their experience in this program and bring the real-world experience of the North American context back to their firms. As well, the Rotman community is enriched by the interaction with our guests, who provide new and exciting perspectives and a global context," says Michael Hartmann, director of Rotman's Executive Programs. BSP offers internationally-recognized MBA, Executive MBA and Executive Development Programs. The BSP Executive MBA is a one-year degree taught in English for Brazilian executives. The 2-week Rotman program is an integral part of the degree. The next group from BSP arrives in Toronto June 18 and two more groups are scheduled for later this year. The Rotman School of Management is a leader in management education with an established international reputation for teaching and research excellence. In addition to programs for students including the Rotman MBA, Rotman offers a suite of highly-focused executive programs for senior managers, including short-term courses and the Rotman Executive MBA.
