TORONTO, May 19, 2000 -- Dean Roger L. Martin of the University of Toronto's Joseph L.
Rotman School of Management travels to Hong Kong from May 24 to 28 to share
a new vision for business education with U of T alumni and Hong Kong
business leaders. Joining Martin in Hong Kong is Jon S. Dellandrea,
Vice-President and Chief Development Officer, University of Toronto, and
President, The University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation.
Martin's visit comes just days after he officially launches the Canadian
Credit Management Foundation (CCMF) Centre for Integrative Thinking, a new
academic unit at the Rotman School that will bring together internationally
renowned scholars to redesign business education for the new century. The
centre is a cornerstone of the Rotman School's vision to rank among the top
ten business schools in the world within seven to ten years.
"Complex forces are revolutionizing businesses today including e-commerce,
new technology and the worldwide war for talent. This new economy will
demand new kinds of managers - ones who can think integratively across a
firm's functional silos," says Martin.
Martin is an expert on competitiveness and will give a talk to alumni on
how the University of Toronto plans to introduce the world's first
integrative business school curriculum. On Saturday, May 27th he will
lead an executive retreat at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen for
alumni and friends of the University of Toronto. Patrick Y B Fung, MBA
'73, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Wing Hang Bank in Hong Kong will
host this event.
