Rotman School Launches Web Portal to Connect Alumni
TORONTO, April 30, 2002 --
A powerful new communications tool is being launched today to help alumni of the University of Toronto's Joseph L. Rotman School
of Management link with their classmates and over 8,000 other Rotman alumni. The Rotman Alumni Portal will enable users to connect
with other alumni more effectively via the Web.
"The best business schools in the world don't just provide a great education. They add value to the careers of their alumni
throughout their lives by linking them to a powerful network of peers," says Rod Lohin, Director, Alumni and Community Relations.
"The Rotman Alumni Portal strengthens our existing network and builds new connections between our alumni who are business leaders
in every kind of organization around the world."
The Rotman Alumni Portal includes information about activities and events at the Rotman School, an area for members of each alumni
class year in various programs, and an online directory of business contact information for all Rotman alumni. The Rotman School
has also partnered with Spencer Stuart, the premier executive search consulting firm, to make Spencer Stuart's leadership
development and career opportunities available to all alumni through the portal. The portal is accessible through a
password-protected site. Rotman alumni who have not received their passwords should contact the school at
alumni@rotman.utoronto.ca.
The Rotman Alumni Portal is an expansion of the existing portal that was launched in September 2001 for Rotman MBA students,
staff, and faculty. The Rotman Web Portal provides access for users to a wide range of online resources online including
class materials, event calendars, and school announcements. The portal was developed with Microsoft technology, with a
sponsorship by Microsoft Canada Co., based on architecture delivered by Liberty Technology Services Ltd., using Plumtree
Software.
The University of Toronto's Joseph L. Rotman School of Management offers leading-edge research and degree programs, including
the prestigious Rotman MBA, the Rotman Part-Time MBA, the One Year MBA for Executives, a first-rate Doctoral Program, the
distinctive Master of Management & Professional Accounting program, the undergraduate Commerce program in partnership with the
Faculty of Arts and Science, combined programs with the University of Toronto faculties of Law, Engineering and Nursing,
and an innovative series of Executive Programs tailored to the current needs of businesses and individual managers.
