U of T MBA Alumnus Featured at Rotman E-Biz Forum 2000: Nigel Stokes Speaks on "E-Business in the Experience Economy."

April 25, 2000 - TORONTO, ON -- Nigel Stokes, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of DataMirror Corporation is the featured speaker in the second event of the Rotman E-Biz Forum 2000, a lecture series featuring Canada's leading e-commerce strategists and firms. The lecture will be held May 1 at the University of Toronto's Joseph L. Rotman School of Management. In his presentation, Stokes, a 1985 graduate of Rotman's MBA program, will talk about "E-Business in the Experience Economy," in which he suggests that to win in the new economy, companies should focus on the total customer experience, not just on having the best or latest technology.

The Rotman E-Biz Forum 2000 lecture series focuses on the most pressing issues in e-commerce in both the business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) markets, as well as identifying emerging trends. The first lecture, featuring David Pecaut, Senior Vice President, Boston Consulting Group, attracted over 450 alumni, students, faculty and business leaders.

The series will resume in September after a summer hiatus. Tickets are $95 per lecture, which includes a post-event networking reception. Admission is free for members of the media. A limited number of complimentary tickets are available for current Rotman MBA and PhD students.

Nigel Stokes is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of DataMirror Corporation, a leading provider of data connectivity and data brokering software that moves, transforms and strategically integrates data throughout organizations and across the Internet. Mr. Stokes holds a Masters degree in System Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and a B.Sc. from Queens University. He is a Certified Management Consultant and was employed as a computer consultant by major consulting firms for more than 15 years.

Stokes was initially employed by leading organizations such as DuPont Canada, Rio Algom and the Toronto Stock Exchange in technical roles. He was later a Principal with Ernst & Young in the computer-consulting field. In 1986 he founded Nidak Associates Inc., a client/server and relational database consulting firm. Under his direction as President, Nidak was ranked by Profit Magazine in 1991 as the 11th fastest-growing firm in Canada and in 1992, Nidak was the winner of two Canada Awards for Business Excellence (CABE). In 1993 Nidak was sold to SHL Systemhouse, a world wide system integration and computer consulting firm, and Stokes became a Managing Director of that organization. After a transition period with SHL during which time he substantially increased both sales and profitability, Stokes left in October of 1994 to help launch DataMirror Corporation. DataMirror is a worldwide company with distribution in more than 30 countries. DataMirror has corporate headquarters in Toronto, Canada and offices throughout North America and Europe. DataMirror is a publicly traded company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
