TORONTO, March 27, 2002 --
The Master of Management & Professional Accounting Program at the Rotman School of Management is very proud to announce that a
Rotman MMPA team of five students placed first in the Fourth Annual Electronic Commerce Case Competition for Graduate Business
Students in Saint John, New Brunswick. The Rotman team made up of Adam Zalev, Hannes Portmann, Radhika Ruparell, Jeff Ku and
Karl Michael finished first out of seven teams, winning the $10,000 prize and successfully defeating McGill who had won the
event for three consecutive years. The case required competitors to assist the National Research Council of Canada in formulating
an action plan and research agenda to develop an Electronic Health and Welfare cluster within the province of New Brunswick.
The competition was held from March 19 to 23. Teams were given 29 hours to develop a solution. The solution was then presented
to a panel of six judges who chose four finalists to compete for the top prize. The final presentation was observed by 13 judges
and approximately 150 other members of the Saint John business community. In additon to the Rotman School, finalists included
teams from McGill University, McMaster University and the University of New Brunswick at Saint John. For additional information

and ability to integrate with practical solutions." "Strong understanding of both the national and regional issues facing both
the healthcare system and the province of New Brunswick." "Incredible presentation and compelling arguments."
The team would like to thank the University of New Brunswick at Saint John and all of the other sponsors who showed great
hospitality during the competition. In addition, the team would like to thank Andersen, Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers
