Rotman School of Management. The Rotman E-Biz Forum 2000 lecture series focuses on the most pressing issues in e-commerce as well as identifying emerging trends. Previous speakers have included eBay Canada's Lorna Borenstein, Procter & Gamble's Mark Schar, vice president, Global Business Development and Consumer & Market Knowledge, and Microsoft Canada's Judy Elder.
Lawrence Pentland serves, as Vice President and General Manager of Americas International, comprised of Canada and Latin America for Dell Computer Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of Dell's sales, marketing, financial and legal activities across 34 countries. He is also responsible for the company's manufacturing operations in Brazil. He reports to the Senior Vice President of Dell Americas. During his tenure at Dell, Mr. Pentland, 43, most recently was Vice President and General Manager of Dell Canada. He began his career with Dell in 1998 at the global headquarters in Texas as Vice President of Business Development, Public and Americas International. Prior to joining Dell in October 1998, Mr. Pentland served as Executive Vice President at Cott Corporation, a private label food and beverage company. Previously, he was a Partner at Bain and Company, serving clients in Canada and the United States. Mr. Pentland is a graduate of the MBA program of the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. He also holds an Honors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario. Mr. Pentland is a Director of the Information Technology Association of Canada, a Director of the Foundation Board at George Brown College, a Director of Telus Corporation and a member of the Young President's Organization.
