Rotman School Awarded AACSB Accreditation

TORONTO — The International Association for Management Education (AACSB) has officially recognized U of T's Joseph L. Rotman School of Management as a premier business school, awarding it the prestigious AACSB accreditation. The AACSB is the primary accrediting agency for programs in business administration and accounting.
           On March 4, the Board of Directors of the AACSB voted to grant business accreditation to all programs offered by the Rotman School and U of T's Mississauga and Scarborough campuses, including MBA, Executive MBA, Master of Management and Professional Accounting, PhD, and Bachelor of Commerce programs. The Rotman School is the seventh Canadian business school to have been accredited.
           To achieve accreditation, the Rotman School had to meet a wide range of rigorous standards relating to curriculum, faculty resources, admissions, degree requirements, library and computer facilities, financial resources, and intellectual resources.
           In a March 5 letter to Dean Roger Martin, AACSB President Roy Herberger commended the Rotman School in six key areas. "As noted in the team report," he states, "University of Toronto … is commended on its (1) outstanding students at all levels, (2) excellent junior faculty, (3) Career Resource Center (university) and MBA Career Resource Center, (4) extremely focused faculty and administration, (5) well designed and extremely functional Rotman Center, and (6) beautiful setting and location."
           AACSB is a not-for-profit organization consisting of more than 800 educational organizations and corporations. Its mission is excellence in management education in colleges and universities, and is the premier accrediting agency and service organization for business schools.
