When More is Not Better Named as a Finalist for the National Business Book Award.

Toronto, November 4, 2021 – A book authored by former Dean of the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management was named as one of five finalists for the National Business Book Award, which honours the most outstanding Canadian business-related book.

When More is Not Better: Overcoming America’s Obsession With Economic Efficiency by Professor Emeritus Roger Martin was published by Harvard Business Review Press. In the book Prof. Martin argues that the obsessive pursuit of economic efficiency is driving inequality and making the economy more fragile. The ideas in the book came together during a six-year project led by Prof. Martin on the future of democratic capitalism at the Rotman School’s Martin Prosperity Institute.

The 2021 NBBA winner will be announced on December 8. The winner is selected by an independent jury is chaired by Peter Mansbridge and includes Wes Hall, The BlackNorth Initiative and Kingsdale Advisors; Deirdre McMurdy, Peerage Capital and Adjudicator; David Denison, corporate director; Anna Porter, author and publisher; and Senator Pamela Wallin. Past winners include Canada's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hon. Chrystia Freeland, Daniel Levitin, as well as journalists Jacquie McNish and Gordon Pitts.
