Research by Marketing Faculty Honoured at ISMS Marketing Science Conference.

Toronto, June 17, 2021 – Three marketing professors at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management were honoured for their research at the ISMS Marketing Science conference held earlier this month

The conference, hosted online by Simon Business School at the University of Rochester, is an annual event that brings together leading marketing scholars, practitioners, and policy makers with a shared interest in rigorous scientific research on marketing problems.

Prof. Sridhar Moorthy who is the Manny Rotman Chair in Marketing, is this year’s recipient of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science (ISMS) Fellow Award, which recognizes cumulative long-term contributions to the mission of ISMS. His research focuses on strategic issues in advertising, branding, product differentiation, and retailing.

Prof. Avi Goldfarb, who holds the Rotman Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare, was recognized as a finalist for the INFORMS 2021 Long Term Impact Award. The award is given to the paper that is viewed to have made a significant long run impact on the field of Marketing chosen from the pool of all prior marketing papers in all INFORMS journals published from 2011 to 2016. His paper, Privacy Regulation and Online Advertising, co-authored with Prof. Catharine Tucker of MIT, was published in Marketing Science in 2011.

Matthew Osborne, an associate professor of marketing at the University of Toronto Mississauga and the Rotman School, was recognized as a finalist for the John D.C Little Award for the best marketing paper published in Marketing Science, Management Science, or another INFORMS journal. His paper, "Identification and Estimation of Forward-looking Behavior: The Case of Consumer Stockpiling,” co-authored with Prof. Andrew Chang of Johns Hopkins University, was published in Marketing Science in 2020.
