Rotman Finance Professor Honoured as one of the Best Business School Professors.

Toronto, April 30, 2020 – A finance professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School has been named one of the top 40 under 40 business school professors of 2020 by Poets&Quants, a business school news site. Andrey Golubov is an assistant professor finance who has taught “Mergers & Acquisitions” in the Rotman MBA program since 2016.
Over 160 professors from business schools around the world were nominated for the eight annual edition. The finalists were rated on both their research and teaching. Prof. Golubov is the only professor from a Canadian business school to make the list.

One of Prof. Golubov’s nominators noted that he "is an expert in mergers & acquisitions, bringing together practical knowledge with theory to produce top quality finance research. He is also a well-respected teacher who uses case-based teaching effectively to help students understand the mergers & acquisitions landscape, including market trends, deal execution, and valuation"

A leading academic expert on mergers and takeovers, Prof. Golubov studies how firms make investment and financing decisions, particularly those involving corporate control considerations. His work falls into two broad streams of financial economics: capital markets and the market for corporate control, and the behaviour of asset prices. His current research examines various aspects of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and firm value and performance. One of his ongoing projects is pioneering the use of new microdata from Canada to better understand the effects of mergers and acquisitions on employee welfare. Earlier this year he was the recipient of the Bank of Canada’s Governor’s Award, which provides financial support to academics who are recognized for their expertise and research in areas important to the Bank's core functions. Prof. Golubov joined the Rotman School in 2015 and holds a PhD from the University of Surrey.
