Rotman School Professor Honoured with Accounting Research Award and MBA Students Place Second in International Business Case Competition.

Toronto, Jan. 24, 2019An assistant professor of accounting at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management has won a best paper award from the American Accounting Association. Prof. Jee-Eun Shin received the Midyear Meeting Best Paper award at the American Accounting Association Management Accounting Section (AAA MAS) Midyear Meeting held earlier this year. The paper is titled “Managing Through Organizational Change: Employee Alignment in the Presence of Unexpected Career Concerns” and was co-authored with Ohchan Kwon of Harvard Business School. The paper examines performance consequences due to unexpected career concerns. primarily layoff risks due to institutional reasons.

It was also announced that two Rotman MBA students placed second an international case competition. Amee Choksi, MBA’20, and Jonathan Kong, BASc/MBA’20, participated in the annual SCAN Health Virtual Business Case Competition competing against undergraduate and graduate students from business schools around the world. Participating teams were challenged to identify, design and implement a solution to achieve “vein-to-vein” tracking and traceability of blood products from the “vein” of donors to the “vein” of recipients. The competition took place in November with the winners announced earlier this month. SCAN Health is an international knowledge translation platform funded by the Government of Canada, Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) and hosted by the University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business
