Rotman School Professor Named as one of the Most Influential People in Canadian Business

Toronto, May 1, 2017 – A professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management has been named to the Report on Business Magazine Power 50 list of the most influential people in Canadian business.

Prof. Ajay Agrawal placed thirty-ninth on the list which includes luminaries such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Drake and business leader Galen Weston Jr. The list was published in the magazine’s May issue.

Prof. Agrawal is the Peter Munk Professor of Entrepreneurship. He was cited by the magazine for his contribution to “Toronto’s emergence as a world-class technology ecosystem.” He is the founder of the Creative Destruction Lab at the Rotman School. The CDL leverages the Rotman School's leading faculty and industry network as well as its location in the heart of Canada’s business capital to accelerate massively scalable, technology-based ventures that have the potential to transform our economic and social landscape. Since its inception, companies that have graduated from the program have gone on to create more than $1 billion (CDN) in equity value. Prof. Agrawal is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and Co-Founder of The Next 36. He teaches courses on business strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship and conducts research on the economics of innovation, creativity, and artificial intelligence. His PhD is from the University of British Columbia.
