Rotman Behavioural Economist Named as one of the 40 Most Outstanding B-School Professors Under 40.

Toronto, February 12, 2014 – A behaviourial economist and marketing professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management has been named today as one of the 40 Most Outstanding B-School Professors Under 40 by the business education website Poets&Quants.

Nina Mažar, an associate professor of marketing, is one of the leading researchers and teachers in the area of behavioural economics.

The Poets&Quants’ “Top 40 Under 40? recognizes young faculty members, who represent elite schools from around the world who excel in research while also succeeding the in the classroom.

Prof. Mažar investigates consumer behavior and is best known for her work on dishonesty, moral decision-making and its implications for policy. Her research topics include irrational attraction to free products, the paradoxes of green behavior and the psychological pain of making payments.

She coordinates the Rotman School’s Behavioural Economics in Action group – a research cluster which partners with non-profit organizations, companies, and governmental agencies to use the findings from research in behavioural economics and apply them to solve, for example, social problems such as financial literacy, obesity, and fraud.

She is a recipient of numerous teaching and research awards in Canada and internationally. Her research is both published in the leading academic journals and featured in the popular press including NPR and BBC and she is a much sought after speaker by international government and non-governmental agencies such as Transparency International.
