Rotman Faculty Shortlisted for Thinkers 50 Awards
Toronto, September 6, 2013 – Two faculty members at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management have been shortlisted for awards from Thinkers 50, the bi-annual global ranking of management thinkers while a third has been named among the top fifty named to the first edition of the Thinkers 50 India ranking.Professor and former Dean, Roger Martin, has been shortlisted for the Strategy Award and also for the Best Book Award for Playing to Win: How Strategy Really Works, co-authored with Proctor & Gamble CEO AG Lafley which was published by Harvard Business Review Press earlier this year. In the most recent Thinkers 50 ranking in 2011, he placed sixth overall. Martin currently holds the Premier’s Research Chair in Productivity and Competitiveness and is the academic director of the Martin Prosperity Institute at the Rotman School.Adjunct Professor Don Tapscott has been shortlisted for the Global Solutions Award for his new initiative, the Global Solutions Networks, non-state networks achieving new forms of cooperation, social change and even the production of global public value. In 2011 he placed ninth in the Thinkers 50 ranking. Tapscott is also a fellow at the Martin Prosperity Institute.The awards and a new overall ranking of the world’s leading management thinkers will be announced in London on November 11. Prof. Dilip Soman placed 45th and is the only Canadian-based thinker on the list. Prof. Soman holds the Corus Chair in Communications Strategy at the Rotman School. His research is in the area of behavioural economics and its applications to consumer wellbeing, marketing and policy. He is also the director of the India Innovation Institute at University of Toronto.
