CGA Ontario Professorship in Accounting Awarded at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management

Toronto , October 20, 2010 – As the new global economy takes shape, Canada’s future leaders will need to employ new methods of accounting and valuation in order to better inform smart, strategic, forward-looking business decisions. With the support of the Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA Ontario), a new professorship has been established at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. The professorship will support research which will help Rotman students, as well as companies and governments around the world to understand and set better accounting standards.

Partha Mohanram, an associate professor of accounting, will hold the CGA Ontario Professorship in Accounting. Prof. Mohanram recently joined the Rotman School from Columbia Business School. His research and teaching interests include Financial Accounting with an emphasis on Valuation, Financial Statement Analysis, Cost of Capital, Earnings Management, Corporate Disclosure and Executive Compensation. He holds a PhD in Business Economics from Harvard University and a PGDM (MBA) from the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad.
