After I graduated a with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in civil engineering from Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, I was handling the manufacturing and logistics infrastructure development for an FMCG company. I worked towards streamlining the systems and processes of the organization as well as pioneering innovative technologies to enable rapid business expansion. I did my internship at National Angel Capital Organization (NACO), a non-profit working towards accelerating the angel investing activity in Canada. Post MBA, I'm interested in consulting roles with a focus on strategy and operations.

Why Rotman?
I chose Rotman for two reasons. Firstly when I had conversations with the student ambassadors of Rotman I got a very positive vibe which was instrumental in making my decision as I believe that a collaborative environment is really essential for a good MBA experience. Secondly, I was intrigued by the model based decision making approach of Rotman which is the upcoming approach for business problem solving.

After finishing my undergrad degree at UofT in Economics and Political Science, I spent two years working in a corporate strategy group for RBC's Personal & Commercial Banking Business. During my time at RBC I assisted executive leadership with the enhancement of their business capabilities and development of initiative road maps. In my first year at Rotman, I focused my networking and extra curricular efforts in finance and real estate. Currently, I am interning at the Cadillac Fairview Corporation as an Analyst in the Development group.

Why Rotman?
Many of my colleagues at RBC were recent Rotman MBA graduates. In both formal and informal discussions about the school, it became apparent that Rotman was dedicated to helping students achieve the highest possible level of education and develop relationships with recruiters and classmates. Rotman's reputation for academics and distinguished network of alumni were ultimately a deciding factor for me.

I am a Leadership and Change Management Major focused on building an international career in Business Development. This August, I fly off to Shanghai to complete my last term as a Rotman MBA student at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Why China? Because MBAs go where the action is.

Why Rotman?
I chose Rotman for three reasons: professional transformation, access to an incredible peer network, and the rigorous nature of the program. Coming to Rotman was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I came for a professional transformation, and will be leaving both professionally and personally transformed. My peers – a group of the highest achievers from around the world – are now a part of my lifelong professional network, a network that I would not have been able to build anywhere else. Lastly, the rigour of the program challenged me, broke me, and ultimately built me into the woman I am today. Having transformed intellectually, professionally and personally, my peers and I are poised to achieve remarkable things.

I am deeply committed to improving people’s lives through sustainable, user-centered solutions and spent nearly six years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation working in service of this mission – most recently with Co-chair Melinda Gates as her Associate Program Officer focused on how gender intersects with the foundation’s 27 strategic program areas across global health, global development, and US education. I am currently pursuing my MBA at the University of Toronto as a Forté Fellow to build my business acumen and explore opportunities to bring a multidisciplinary and user-centered approach to the private sector. A native of Seattle, USA, I attended The George Washington University in Washington D.C. where I earned a degree in Women’s Studies with a minor in Communication and was a Dean’s Scholar in Globalization. When I'm not re-watching old episodes of The West Wing, I write about gelatin and general musings at BreakingTheMoldBlog.com.

Why Rotman?
I chose Rotman for three reasons: 1) Professor Sarah Kaplan: As I was applying to business schools, I read an article by strategy Professor Sarah Kaplan in the Stanford Social Innovation Review called The Rise of Gender Capitalism. I had never read such a clear articulation of the potential I saw in using a “gender lens” to improve people’s (not just women’s) lives through the private sector and knew that I wouldn’t find such a professor at other business schools. I am fortunate to be working with her now to start a new research institute at Rotman on Gender & the Economy (GATE). 2) Business Design: I was familiar with user-centered design from my work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation but only Rotman offered the opportunity to continue this education at the birthplace of business design. I found a home in the Business Design Club and DesignWorks that I am grateful for and would not have elsewhere. 3) International Cohort: From my career in international development, I knew how important it was to work thoughtfully with diverse teams in order to achieve the greatest impact. Many American business schools lacked the diversity that Rotman offered and I am a better student, friend, and professional because of the relationships that I have forged (in and outside the classroom) here with students from outside North America.

I am fascinated and deeply interested in how traditional practices in healthcare are being transformed using technology to improve the focus on patient outcomes. Health systems around the world are recognizing that to be forward-thinking, is to shift to team-based care models. In other words, there is a movement towards convergence among healthcare institutions. I find this movement remarkable; therefore, I am extremely passionate about healthcare innovation. In following this passion, prior to my MBA at Rotman, I worked in veterinary compounded pharmaceuticals and in retail pharmacies focused on innovation—specializing in marketing strategy, e-commerce, and brand management. Today, I am a member of Eli Lilly so that I can follow this path and create transformational patient-centric solutions. My post-graduation goal is to continue my career in healthcare innovation and strategy, and therefore pursuing a career in healthcare strategy. I also enjoy helping non-profit organizations provide humanitarian services. In 2010, I successfully constructed and fundraised for two homes for need-based families in El Salvador. Currently, I am a member of the Smile Lesotho Foundation to help the organization combat childhood oral disease in this country. In my free time, I enjoy playing baseball, golf, hockey, and ultimate frisbee. If you would like to connect with me, feel free to send me a message! Why Rotman?
Similar to Rotman’s application process, I chose Rotman from a holistic perspective. This included the rank of the school, academic aptitude of the students, career support, extracurriculars, location and unique offerings. When I had assessed these attributes, Rotman not only excelled compared to other schools, but also exceeded my expectations. I’ll focus on three of these: 1. Academic prowess of the students: I was always amazed by the new learnings I received each day—learning wasn’t only done in class. For example: These learnings weren’t simply “how-to” use an NPV/APV formula; but more about conceptual understanding on why certain scenarios required different valuation options. 2. Career support: Having a dedicated career coach helped me become a “better me”. Through frequent one-on-one meetings I was able to be a better interviewer and writer for all my job applications. Furthermore, Rotman offers the SDL which helped me become an influential communicator and presenter—all of which are vital to personal development. 3. Location, location, and location: Rotman’s close proximity to the downtown core allowed me to attend sudden/”next day” interviews. This is very important as their location maximizes your chance to successfully land an internship/full-time career. In my opinion, I can go on-and-on about why I chose Rotman. Rotman plugged me in to an international network of business leaders, and started me on a path that has led from Bay Street in Toronto to a West Coast internship with Amazon and a semester abroad in Switzerland. I didn't know where exactly my Rotman MBA would lead me, but I knew it was going to be exciting.

I grew up in Vancouver, B.C. and attended Queen’s University, before transferring to Kwantlen Polytechnic University where I completed a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Entrepreneurial Leadership. Prior to attending Rotman, I served as the Vice-President of Strategy for Carthage Holdings, my family’s investment company, where I helped manage the firm’s portfolio of businesses. This summer, I worked at Edenshaw Developments as a Real Estate Development Analyst, where I conducted due diligence and helped raise a significant amount of equity to finance the development of a number of properties. After graduating, I want to pursue a career in real estate development/investment, or private equity with a specific area of interest in succession funds, or funds which target small to mid-cap sized companies that operate in niche industries. In my spare time, you will probably find me at a music festival, on my grandparent’s boat, travelling, having beers on a patio, or spending time with my friends (or some combination of the above).

Why Rotman?
I chose Rotman because it was the best school for me. Before I started studying for the GRE, I developed specific list of criteria for what I wanted out business school. I knew wanted a top ranked school with a large and diverse cohort, located in a major city that would offer me a wide range of experiences, and would provide me with exposure to top employers across a wide range of fields. Rotman checked all of those boxes, and more. After being applying and being accepted to schools in the United States and Canada, Rotman was the the intuitive choice. Although first year was difficult, I do not regret the choice I made. During my first year at school, I’ve been exposed to so many different things, learned so much, and gained a great deal of new friends. It’s been an amazing experience.

Educated in Mumbai, India, I am a Chartered Accountant with 5+ years of experience in corporate, international and transaction taxation. My post-MBA goal is to work as an M&A Advisor. This summer, I interned as an M&A Associate in the Oil & Gas group at Rothschild. In my spare time, I indulge in my passion for soccer and cricket.

Why Rotman?
I applied to Rotman because of its strong focus on Finance, its reputation as the best B-school in Canada and the opportunity to learn from world-class professors at Rotman. Since, I was looking to migrate to Canada post-MBA, the 3 year work permit and ease of assimilation into Canadian work-life were other important aspects that I thought about before applying. I also visited Rotman to participate in the Problem Solving Challenge and to get a first-hand feel of both Rotman and Toronto and that trip rubber-stamped my belief that Rotman would be the best decision I would make for my career.

I am currently pursuing my CFA designation and working with PSP Investments in Montreal over the summer. Before joining Rotman, I worked in a chemical trading firm as a Business Development Associate.

Why Rotman?
I chose Rotman for three reasons. 1) Strategic Location – The school is located just few blocks away from Bay Street (The Financial District). As an international student, this is a great opportunity to build your network across industry and it helps you to connect with potential employers and business professionals. 2) Good fit – Rotman was the right fit for my career transition both into Canada and the finance sector. It is a very well-recognized brand in Canada with a globally-renowned faculty. Furthermore, the school provides access to a lot of resources both in traditional and non-traditional career paths through industry events, speaker series, case competition, alumni network, industry and social clubs and many more. Rotman not only gave me access to my traditional career path in Finance but also a big opportunity for self-reflection through Business Design, the Creative Destruction Lab, Self Development Lab and so on. 3) Diversity – Rotman is very welcoming to culture, geographic and career diversity. This brings immense learning outside the classroom given 50% of the class is International. There is a focus on teamwork which gives an opportunity to enrich your learning from alpha personality classmates and make a lifelong bonding. You are more than welcome to connect. I am happy to guide you with questions related to the Full-Time MBA Program, School, and or Life in Toronto.

I am originally from Moscow, Russia. Prior to Rotman, I worked as an Account Manager at an international creative agency and at a fashion retail company as the Head of Merchandising. This summer, I am working for Hudson’s Bay Company in supply chain and process improvement role. My career goal is to focus on operations consulting.

Why Rotman?
Rotman has caught my attention by its focus on Management instead of the classical Business. I got interested in pursuing Leadership development through LDL, which makes Rotman stand out amongst other business schools.

I am in my second year of the MBA program at Rotman, with a concentration in marketing. I am looking towards learning more about the role of marketing and business design for startups and b-companies, where I plan to leverage my MBA degree to make an impact. I am spending my summer internship working for an Organic Fruit Producer in Colombia as their Marketing and Product Development advisor through the GCP at Rotman.

Why Rotman?
I chose Rotman because of the international experiences it provides, which I have taken advantage of in my first year through the Middle East and Indian study tour and Global Consulting Project in Colombia. I was also fascinated by how business design and marketing tied together, especially in the startup space, and have been accepted as a Creative Destruction Lab student for the incoming year.

I have a legal education and have also worked for Apple in the past. I hold an LLB from The University of Manchester in the UK and an LLM from the University of Toronto. I have also passed the NY Bar Exam before choosing to pursue an MBA. At Rotman, I decided to pursue strategy consulting and joined the MCA and participated in several case competitions. For my summer internship, I chose CIBC for a strategy role for its Digital Payments team. I am a fan of all Toronto sports franchises and every year have to deal with the heartbreak that comes along with this unfortunate fact.

Why Rotman?
I chose to come to Rotman as it is overwhelmingly ranked as the best MBA program in Canada. Given the that my decision to pursue an MBA centred around improving my future career prospects, I wanted to ensure I attended not only the most recognized program in the country, but also the program where the top firms and organizations recruit, the program that has the best faculty and the program that offers the broadest and deepest alumni network. The Rotman brand represents all these things. I am proud and honoured to represent the school for the rest of professional career.
