Three Faculty at the UofT’s Rotman School of Management Honoured with Dean’s Awards for Research and Teaching
Toronto, January 17, 2014 – Professors in the areas of marketing, accounting and organizational behaviour at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management have been named the recipients of the 2013 Dean’s Awards for Excellence in Research and Teaching. The purpose of the awards is to annually recognize and encourage excellence in the research and teaching activities of faculty members at the Rotman School. Prof. Tiziana Casciaro is the winner of the Award for Excellence in Teaching. She currently is an associate professor of organizational behavior and human resource management who has won the Rotman Excellence in Teaching Award, as voted by students, for the last six years for her teaching in the Rotman MBA program. She also teaches in several of the Rotman School’s highly regarded executive education programs including serving as academic director of The Judy Project: A Leadership Forum for Executive Women; Emerging Leaders Program; and Business Leadership for Women Lawyers.
Profs. Gus De Franco and Claire Tsai are the joint winners of the Award for Excellence in Research.
De Franco is an associate professor of accounting at the Rotman School. His research focuses on sell-side analysts, CFA charter holders, comparability, private firms accounting quality, and valuation. He is currently a member of the American Accounting Association, Canadian Accounting Association, and European Accounting Association.
Tsai is an associate professor of marketing at the Rotman School and a member of the School’s Behavioural Economics in Action Research Cluster. She adopts a behavioural economics approach in studying decision making in areas of financial decisions, food consumption and well-being. Her work appears in leading marketing and psychology journals, including Journal of Consumer Research and Psychological Science and receives widespread coverage in the media.
The winners were announced today by Prof. Peter Pauly, the Rotman School’s Interim Dean.
